    Saved a 3yo Oak that suffered a complete griddle from a weed whacker. Treated the wound with ground silver, placed patches made of bark from another tree’s fresh growth, then wrapped the entire thing in duct tape. 3+ months later tree has been green with new growth the entire time.

    The problem is that rust will also continue underneath so if possible lift the iron and seal the top and underside of holes and repaint lapped areas. We have a very wet climate and today it almost rained up hill when a sudden cold cyclone hit. Caught me out as I was working on the roof and had to put an old rusty iron tile back on to stop water flowing in. But far more rust on the underside edges of the iron than on the exposed surface due to capillary action and wind blowing water underneath as it flows off the iron. I also agree not to put screws in the pan or channel where the water flows but on the ridges especially in areas of high rainfall.

    It's a 350 B, needs hoses and track pads, those are for a loader, not gonna push much esp. uphill. Undercarriage looks pretty good, that is one of the most expensive parts to replace. I have one just like it, works great around my Tree Farm...

    Your 4x4 beams are completely wrong for that much to support the much weight. You should have used 1 3/4 " x 12 " LVL extirior beams . Over time, your 4x4 beams are going to sag . You should have used 6X6 posts . The way you notched your 4x4 beams to overlap each other on top of your post is completely wrong . Over time, the weight of the roof will split the 4x4 post where they overlap each other. A building inspector would not pass the inspection of the framing on this project

    But it only leaks when it rains! haha was great here in NM where it hardly rains at all. In 2022 it did rain HARD! and there was a leak. But 2023 it didnt rain at all. So heres June 2024 and it has rained 7 days (not in a row) and the leak is back! The young man (Im 74, think I could get on roof but not back down!) who wants to buy this house (was his moms), he got up there and caulked a place on a vent, but that wasnt it. i just realized this MFH home owner installed Pro Panel blue roof is over 20 yrs old now so your advise on checking the screws is probably why its leaking! Eureka! Thanks for posting this helpful video!

    You need to take the pump off and take it to an injection pump shop for repair. Without the repair the weights on the governor will damage the housing and could cause the engine to go into a overspeed condition and leave you with a pile of junk. I have had these issues on other machines but same Roosa Master pumps. You have a disaster waiting to happen.

    You should go up to the next size screw instead of trying to use a new one or drilling a new hole. Less holes less chance of future leaks.

    I've inherited my dad's big shop house with a metal roof and it has leaks... I do not have the funds to maintain this situation and I'm disabled. I have a teenage son and we've been learning but the problems here are just really overwhelming. Great video. I'm hoping I can tarp this sucker safely above our living quarters. I did have a roofer go up there to do a quick look and he said someone overlapped the metal wrong in areas and near my chimney, someone stepped where they shouldn't have so there's a dip and water leaks in through there. Ahhhhhhhh.

    Interesting. What happens to the black specs? Do they end up in the tank?

    • @HiddenValleyHomestead
      @HiddenValleyHomestead 3 місяці тому

      I believe so! Then hopefully they get caught in the filter! I should have explained that a little better. The black chunks are a disintegrated plastic spacer or washer contained somewhere that isn't actually needed... And they break apart and clog the injection pump restricting the flow and making that little check valve stop working properly. Take the check valve out and it allows for those chunks to flow back to the tank.

    A nice job Scot but I don't think your seal between the deck and the logs will be watertight. Did you consider putting some caulking in just to seal the deal?

    • @HiddenValleyHomestead
      @HiddenValleyHomestead 5 місяців тому

      Not really. All the research I've found doesn't suggest doing that. That tape really is just to slow down water penetration into the top of the log. We also sealed the log prior to putting the tape on. It should at least double or triple the life of that wood from rot. Thx!
